What direction do the wires come from to the cooker unit ? It is easier to move along the cable, making it shorter really, until you get the cooker unit to a position that is out of the way of your kitchen units.

To extend the cable would really mean putting in a proper box and blanking plate with proper connections inside to take the heavy cable that is needed to run you stove. There are cooker connectors that have all the necessary connections inside, but this too would be in the way if you position it in the same spot as the original cooker unit, unless you sink it below the surface of the plaster and make sure it is properly protected against people banging nails and screws through it.
