Connection to existing solvent weld waste

The existing bath wast connects to the soil pipe with 40ish.mm solvent weld pipes. This comes from the soil pipe and almost immediately has a connector taking it up at about 40degrees(?)

When that is all cut away, how does one connect anything new to what's left?

At most all there will be is about 20-30mm of grey pipe.

Surprisingly, you might be able to remove the solvent weld fitting and leave the pipe intact.

I would try this: Hacksaw off the bulk of the fitting, then use a Dremel with a cutting disk to very carefully slice through the remaining bit that's wrapped around the pipe, cutting parallel to the pipe run, being very careful not to cut too deep. Then peel the solvent joint away from the pipe. The peel strength of the adhesive is not that great. You will have to take it slowly and watch the Dremel cutter does not melt the pipe instead of cutting it.

I haven't actually tried this but it should work.

20-30mm of pipe is more than enough to connect to a solvent weld fitting.

You are unlikely to be able to remove any existing fitttings without damaging the pipework because they are welded together due to the solvent rather than simply just being glued together with an adhesive.
