You steam different types of vegetables for different times, usually by stacking them in different bowls. In a microwave larger individual veges take longer to cook and it's hard to estimate the times.

Why?
My standard breakfast is a poached egg on toast and a rasher of bacon.
Doing the egg in the microwave wouldn't save me time or trouble.
If you wish to cook large vegetables (like say a complete carrot) yes. With practice, if you cut them all down to about the same size, you can cook in a microwave all at the same time.
