cold radiator

Hi All



Some help plz.



Just installed 2 radiators in the kitchen, replacing the 2 old ones. One was a simple changeover and the other required new pipe work , but all pretty simple. I took care to match the inlet/outlet with the new radiators. House is 14 years old and water more clean than dirty.



Powered up the heating and whilst there is water in the radiators, it's stone cold. Even the pipes are cold.



All the other rads are hot (except one in the lounge which has hot pipes but cold rad).



The previous rads worked v. well but now its cold.



I replaced lockshield for lockshield and put turn valves on the right pipe.



Any idea's or checks I should be doing. I even tried the pump on high speed.



Actually took out the air vent for hot water to slowly (very slowly) start to seep through. Once the vent was closed it cooled down again.



Pipe work was mainly couplers with solder inside + 1 compression fitting.



Any help appreciated.

Close down all other rads and see if they now work. If they do, the system needs balancing. See FAQ for details.

You almost certainly have an airlock.

Turn on the heating and go round to all other radiators and turn off their TRVs or wheel valves (normal controls)

With luck, the pump will push the air round and the new radiators will fill. Turn up the pump if you need to do so.

Don't forget to add inhibitor when you have done, or next time the water won't be so clean......

You've probably got an airlock. If your radiators pipes drop from the ceiling, you may find you have bleed valves somewhere on the floor above. Alternatively, do as others say and turn off all the other radiators (and possibly any bypass valve too) to blast the air away. Remember the positions of any valve you touch.

Many thanks to all your advice.

I turned off all the hand valves and switched pump to hi setting and loand behold hater water came through. I've got cleaner running around inside and then will replace with inhibitor.
