Childish answers to postings.

Oy vey, my boy, I'm not dying to sell you *anything"! However, since you're in the market, as it seems you are, then what are you looking for, eh? No guarantees, you understand, but if I can get it, I assure you I'll *give* it to you, and for a very good price!

Hello, lover boy... the only thing *you've* contributed recently is that you keep a container of five bog rolls on your bathroom floor! Stands to reason, I suppose! Still, I won't wait for your explanation!

And you think anyone will care? At best you will just be ignored.

IME, most people who post genuine questions get good a relevant answers as a rule. Yes they may also get daft, silly, funny, drivel etc. as well, but hey, that's life. Criticising people doesn't really have any affect - it's just adds even rubbish to be ignored.

And you think this thread will change anyone's posting behaviour?

I have thanks, quite a busy one. Which is why I long ago realised that ignoring and for the odd person kill-filing is the best way to respond to drivel.

Yup.

Thing is, there ain't no way I'm ever going to be convinced that commercial posts would improve the group.

Nor me and he doesn't seen to have garnered much support from other readers. In fact I don't recall seeing anyone else overtly supporting such spam.

I didn't understand it :-(

But I appreciated the attempt:-)

Kill files are designed for use when the signal to noize ratio is all wrong, and yes like the off switch on the TV you get to miss the whole lot.

Commercial posts are off-topic in all public unmoderated newsgroups, so what would dropping the prohibition achieve?

Of course having a clear prohibition in the FAQ and charter does cut the legs from under whining would-be spammers, but who gives a f*ck about them?

Well, nearly all of them...

No, they are not. Various groups allow commercial adverts. Often the format of the subject title and frequency of posting is specified.

There is no real prohibition at all.

On-topic and useful adverts would mak a nice addition, and improve the signal-to-noise ration.

That's of no significance whatever.

uk.d-i-y hasn't got a charter.

No-one.

One of your probs is that you're too dense to realise that one poster's signal is another poster's noise. Also, nobody made you quartermaster.

Wee wee poo poo, you smell, smelly smelly smelly wee wee. Ha ha! Poo face, wet your nappy!

(My thanks to my granddaughter for the above. I felt we needed a genuine childish response, for comparison so I asked the nearest small person for the appropriate response.)

Read what I wrote again. The problem is that you are too dense, isn't it.

Echoey in here, isn't it?

Most reasoned and articulate post in here so far today! :))

Inside your head, obviously.

Well you do have a tendency to state the obvious, just not very fluently.

Mike Halmarack

LMAO again! If it's obvious to you then, it must be *very* obvious! Thanks!

My pleasure.

Oh the fluency is there alright, just not the eloquence.
