Speaking of check valves, Should one periodically replace these?
I have a couple in use, one on the boiler and one on a garden hose.
The one on the boiler plainly works or there'd presumably be water shooting out of it.

That's not the failure mode I've experienced, which has been a failure to l= et water through even in the direction you want. It's happened twice so far= (in about 12 years) on the one serving my garden tap, and usually makes it= sef evident at the most inconvenient time, resulting in much swearing and c= arrying of watering cans into the kitchen to fill up...
