CH pump advice please

Our CH pump is getting increasingly noisy and there?s now a pretty constantirregular ?grumbling? rumble whenever it?s running.The noise is aggravated by it being horizontally mounted in the loft (wherethe boiler is) and it seems to use the ceiling as a sounding board.Anyhow, it seems like this would be a good opportunity to replace andrelocate the pump to the airing cupboard where I should be able to mount itvertically away from any resonating surfaces. I?m assuming that it?sreasonable to mount it anywhere between the boiler and the ?T? where flowgets divided between the HW tank and the CH system?Does it really matter whether it?s in the boiler flow or return? (It?s apressurised system).What?s the state of play regarding pump technology these days? I?m surethat new ones are probably smarter than our old fixed speed one. Anyrecommendations?FWIW ours is a 5 bedroom house with 15 radiators.Tim

The expansion vessel and gauge are in my garage downstairs which makes estimating pressure at the pump in the loft a tad tricky. (Two story house). One day I?ll get my tape measure out and measure the height difference. ;-)

Doesn't the boiler have a gauge? Most will cut-out if below 0.5bar or so.

Nope. I think they?re only normal on boilers with integrated pressure vessels.

I did dig out a tape measure and discovered that it?s only about 5 metres height difference between expansion vessel and boiler so I guess this just means I need to add and extra half bar of pressure.
