Cavity Tray needed with a Catnic Lintel??

Hi All,

You may remember we recently had an extention built (well, it's still on go ing kind of).

Some time ago a BCO came round and gave his ok when the build was up to roo f height. Now a surveyor from building control (I assume that's the same t hing) has come and done a "Final Inspection" and said it can't be signed of f as it doesn't have Cavity Trays fitted!

I know very little about cavity trays, and Googling has only brought up spe cs and pictures which confuse me more......

I did a search within UK.d-i-y which SEEMED to suggest that if you had Catn ic lintels (which I believe we do), then you don't need cavity trays.

Is this the case?

(Please tell me it is!)

TIA

Chris

Depends on what type of catnic lintel you have. Certainly some of the cavity wall versions that span both walls the shape seems to negate the need for additional cavity trays and the only thing required is some weep holes from what I can see.

Your best bet is to contact their technical support on their website.

Retro fitting cavity trays is going to be a real pita.
