Can't start my strimmer

My Makita chainsaw seems to like a similar starting procedure. Engage chain brake, turn on choke, pull cord twice, turn off choke, turn on ignition, and set the throttle to the start position, then pull to start. It normally fires first or second time. Blip the trigger to release the half throttle once started, and then disengage chain brake.

I have a mains electrical chain saw. No problems starting.

Try taking it into the woods and starting it ;-)

I can get to all my own wood.

If you have a gas blowlamp simply use it to feed gas into the air filter whilst trying to start. 2 stroke engines usually fire up easily on a whiff of gas and then pull fuel through a failing carburettor and continue running.

I've just acquired a Stiga SBC 226 J Brush Cutter and as its new starts right away, but its got a lot of go in it so much so i accidentally hit a stone made a very niace effect i on the Glazed door window:!(

The Mountfield mover OTOH has always been a problem to start but someone who is good with these machines has got it working probably better than it did from the factory!

Carb's are always the problem with these if its not, the ignition module is says he!

Perhaps its about them we dropped the SU carbs as per the Spitfire and went ME109 stylee fuel injection ;))...

Isn't Stiga the owners of the Mountfield brand?

I recently purchased one of the last of the Honda / Mountfield mowers. Best of both worlds, and at a clearance price!

Yes i believe they are, now never been the enamoured with Mountshite but with a Honda engine - they'd be well, look at what Max Verstappen can do on a good day;)...

ive got a Mountfield rotary mower with an aluminium deck and B&S engine that is over 40years old and still going fine and a strimmer that is almost the same age don't know when the Mountfield name was sold off but they did make good products at one time
