Can anyone suggest a fan supplier (not with a motor, just the blades)?

I'm after a couple of small centrifugal fans, for blowing air. They are to replace some that I might be able to re-use but would prefer not to.

They fit on a 1/4" shaft and are about 20cm and 12cm diameter respectively. The existing ones are very crude being just a set of flat blades rivetted onto a round plate which has a central collar that fixed onto the motor shaft.

Can anyone suggest a supplier of such things? I might even find some that are rather better made than the existing ones, I can't imagine anything much worse.

A little bit of research suggests that these fans are called "straight radial fans", but I haven't found a supplier.

I wouldn't assume that every calls them that, particular in china and india.

There just be some on alibaba and most do samples.

Quite, on eBay "radial fan" gets less than 1,000 hits and "centrifugal fan" gets more than 112,00 hits.

You will find that they are normally made as units with motors intake and output etc. I cannot say I've seen many. They are normally slightly curved plates to make sure the air does in fact start to flow where its supposed to. Brian

It's not like a 'normal' centrifugal fan. The inlet is 'axial' but the outlet is all round, not a duct. It sucks air up a flue and just discharges it to open air.

That is not a centrifugal fan., its an axial fan

Try axial fan

No it's not. An axial fan blows air along its axis, i.e. parallel to its drive shaft. This fan throws air out away from the shaft.

I agree it's not a conventional centrifugal fan but the air certainly moves centrifugally.

A search for axial fan just produces standard propellor type fans and they're definitely not what I'm after.

Not really because *none* of those fans are like the ones I'm after. :-) or maybe :-(

I've found a picture of the type of fan I'm after on page 25 of this catalogue:-

My fans are like the "circular aluminium fan" except that the disk that the blades are attached to on my fans is just a solid round disk.

The motor driving the fan just happens to be a Remco motor which is how I chanced upon the above.

... and a search for "motor cooling fans" turns up quite a few fans of this type, unfortunately all the ones I can see at the moment are in the USA. Maybe we have a different name for "motor cooling fans", any ideas anyone?

There's (Or was) a fan specialist trading as fans and grilles in Hull or try Fans and Spares in Leeds.
