Businesss vehicle insurance

May 10, 2016 3 Replies

I fancy a little van for work, rather than using my car.

Just wondering what insurance costs are like doing it through the business vs buying it privately and declaring an amount of business mileage.

Any input appreciated.

I pay £28 a month for my Citroen Nemo van. If you lease you can claim the payments against tax as well as fuel, repairs, tax etc.

Ask your accountant re business mileage claims. I think it's 40p a mile.

AIUI, you can either claim all costs associated with the vehicle when used for business, or, you claim a flat rate of 45p per mile.

If leased, then you'd go the all costs route If you use a cheap vehicle ,or your own vehicle, it may be better to go the 45p per mile route.

45p/mile upto 10,000, then 25p.
