Builders liability insurance levels - what's the norm?

I have the same cover (no employees) just cost me £73.50 for the year, I was paying £120.00+. Anybody want the name of the company?

Cheers

I can see it would be for you Ed. Doesn't cause me too much trouble though, I only do simple plumbing jobs & if I need to use solder ring fittings I just do it outside & use compression to make the final connections.

Thanks to all - all sorted now.

The builder let his agent talk directly to me - they were baffled by the=20 demand as well.

Cover has been extended on a pseudo one-off basis: extension to cover=20 for year but can be reverted back to normal and refund back for the=20 unused part of the policy - will probably cost about =A350 max in total. = =20 Their original quotes from other companies were wildly out, fortunately.

Party wall surveyor is IMO taking the proverbial, and stretching his=20 brief way beyond what the act calls for, but I bit my lip, went for tact=20 & diplomacy & he's now going to release the award. He's been sailing=20 pretty close to compromising his independence - still might take this=20 further but right now it would only cause further delay & stress.

This has been a stressfull experience - but work will start tomorrow. =20 Fingers crossed that the builder is as good as his references have told=20 me he is. Just a bit gutted that I can't get stuck into it myself (work=20 prevents), but at least I've got the kitchen fitting to look forwards to=20 doing :-)
