Just wandering aimlessly around in the heat looking for somewhere to fit an outlet for a portable air conditioner.
Our 1930s semi has cavity walls with a normal looking bond, but the bricks in the curved bay at the front are end on. At least below the render.
Does this suggest that there is no cavity, or is it just easier to form a curve with (possibly half) bricks end on?
Had the house since 2007 but this has only just registered.

I think it's pretty normal to use half-bats, as you say it makes a tighter curve easier ...
Yup, with brickwork, any curve will have to be approximated as a bunch of straight lines at an angle to the preceding one. So half bricks end on will make for a nicer curve with less "steps".
Having a look on line and you can get used curved bricks made for bay windows. None listed as new, though. I assume a brick works used to make them but is no longer there.
