Boiler electrical outlet to close to gas pipe

I have just had a gas inspection and the engineer has stated that the boile r electrical connection is too close to the gas pipe, similarly the gas pip e to the hob and the electrical connection to the oven. Does any body know what the regs are. Though the kitchen been redone all the appliances are in the original places. Thanks

It is the gas regulations rather than the electrical ones which contain the figures you want :-

"BS6891-2005

8.16.2 Separation of installation pipework from other services

Where installation pipes are not separated by electrical insulating material, they shall be spaced as follows: a) at least 150 mm away from electricity meters and associated excess current controls, electrical switches or sockets, distribution boards or consumer units; b) at least 25mm away from electricity supply and distribution cables."

Simplest solution might be to insulate the gas pipe.

Well you have not blown up been electrocuted or fried so far, so.... It really depends whether the gear was just put there or has always been there. brian

Does that also apply to SWA cables? Does the outer PVC count as sufficient insulation? I know of one recently tie wrapped to a gas pipe. In this case the gas pipe was already installed.
