Best type of roller (nor not) for water based gloss

May 01, 2006 4 Replies

Hi,

I'm planning to repaint some ply with water based gloss, and am thinking of whether a foam or short pile roller would be better. Has anyone used either of these with this type of gloss and can say whether they're any good or not?

I also have a paint pad, but don't know if it would be better than a roller or not, so any feedback on using a pad with gloss would be appreciated too.

TIA, Pete.

Very fine foam roller. Radiator rollers are ideal.

They're dirt cheap. Try each, and continue with what works best with your paint and surface.

Paint pads, these are crappy products.

Thanks for that, already have one of those so will give it a try first.

cheers, Pete.

Think I'll give the foam roller a go first, then try a short pile roller if there's time.

cheers, Pete.
