best paint sprayer

Hi all,



We have a number of internal doors to paint and also I am building some out door furniture which need staining. It would be far quicker to spray them r ather than using a brush and I was hoping someone has experience and could offer some advice on which type/ model to get.



I was thinking the air compressor type ones they use in garages would be go od but the compressor I have is physically small and only goes up to 10bar on the guage (so I assuming operating Max is much lower). Would these work with this?



I once saw an electric spray gun on a shopping channel. I bought it but the spray of paint was uneven and spat blobs out randomly. This one was a comp lete single unit so maybe it was just a rubbish one rather than this type n ot being good.



Any help/ advice on selecting one is appreciated.

I have a HVLP (high volume low pressure) one made by Apollo. Uses a turbine unit rather than compressor, so that is much smaller and lighter than a conventional compressor. It works very well considering the lowish cost - about 200 quid. A high pressure system to give similar results would cost about 3 times that - and not be (easily) portable. The all in one airless types I found fairly useless.

A side benefit of the Apollo is the turbine unit is very useful for drying out water pipes before soldering. ;-)

Earlex Spray Station HV 5500

I find it excellent. Very little over spray. Mimimum amount of controls to get wrong. Easiiy cleaned.

Lots of youtube videos on its use

Looks to be the same idea. HVLP has advantages over high pressure - but of course not if you want that for other things too.
