Alternative To Exterior Rendering ? Aquapanel + Artex Hyclad

situation: old coal hole and outside toilet, rear of trad. edwardian red brick terrace.

problem: unevenly jointed brickwork, solid but looks terrible, needs either rendering / pebbledashing / rough casting.

question: can anyone see any major no no's in using aquapanel to cover the brickwork and then a coating of artex Hyclad or similar Weathertex type coating ?

I'm sure there are modern, standard practices and materials for exterior cladding other than rendering, something I'm a bit daunted by having never done more than patching with plaster, but I can't find ay information on the web, probably because I don't know what I'm looking for. catch 22 !

one of the main reasons I'd like to clad the walls, apart from simplicity, is the silicone DPC, if I render, I either have to bridge the DPC (obviously asking for trouble later) or have the render 'floating' an unacceptable height from the floor.

any tips, pointers or clues greatly appreciated

not talking to myself, honest, but minutes after posting the question I found the installatiion .pdf for aquapanel, specifically exterior grade AQUAPANEL Cement Board Maxi and thought it may be of use to others in future

easy to install and effective both visually and technically

Why not use plastic or timber cladding?

Rendering is easier than plastering. However you render etc now, its only sensible to include plenty of insulation. DPCs don't usually do much, they're more a backup thing. Its normal to leave a strip along the bottom bare to allow evaporation.

Yes, you could trap moisture in the walls.

For older buildings use a permeable insulation such as wood-fibre board with a lime render which will allow the wall to breathe.

Alternative if it suits the locality is to batten the walls and hang with tiles/slates. Done correctly that can cross the dpc without bridging it. Will protect the walls from weather but still allow breathing.

If you must use impermeable render or panels then do the work in early autumn when the wall should be at its driest.

You can get super-wide gutters and roof verge extension to avoid extending the roof over fatter externally insulated walls.
