Had a letter today from the former boards contracting division, in BIG letters "safety warning", with the small print going on about free inspections and the like, and fitting upgrade MCB systems instead of fuse boards. This lot were pulling supply fuses a while ago if they found (according to their *engineers*) any safety fault, and demanding full rewires. Needless to say its been shredded. Its a shame the boards never checked their peoples work before handing it back to the customers, today tracing a light fitting that wasn't working (in MIL's flat) I found several 2 wire twists and installation-tape joins, its now been corrected, and some nice new 2D fittings installed (she needs BRIGHT lights in her passage!), the last person to touch it, according to the records kept by the previous owner, a board sparks!
