Aldi invertor welder

20-140A, 5kg, electrodes upto 3.2mm, now £69.99. Any opinions on it?

looks ok as a replacement for a basic buzz box. The duty cycle at the top end is pretty poor though. Its does not say if it has any active cooling, but probably not.

Havn't seen that but I have the Lidl equivalent. As a complete novice at stick welding (only tried one buzz box, but could not get that to work at all) I have been quite impressed. Copes nicely with that inch square steel tubing with a wall thickness of, what, 4 mm? Does things I couldn't do with a much bigger MIG.

It certainly has a fan, does that count as active cooling? Don't have the manual to hand but would not be surprised if the duty cycle is limited at the top end, it is very small and light. Used about half a dozen 1.6 rods yesterday, though not particularly quickly, without it tripping out.
