Have fitted white tiles (bathroom) and am about to fit dark blue dado tiles. Is the normal thing to grout in between these ?
I can't help thinking the white grout is going to look odd between the tiles

Well use purple gout then ;-)
If they're the same size as the other tiles, you'll have to grout them with something. Try a couple white and see how they look. Easy enough to rake out within an hour or so. Don't know whether grout comes in a range of colours
