22mm for mains cold water?

Hi,

just a quick thought in passing.

Is there any benefit in using 22mm for the cold mains right up to the taps, tanks etc.?

It seems to me you might get a better flow rate to most things, especially if you have tanks in the loft. Also gives you 22mm to the bath (if you fill from the mains).

supose it depends on wheather you have water presure problems to begin with. if you have, go for 22mm, if you dont then it may not be worth the bother.

I used 22mm to the bathroom and branched off 2 x 15mm to the bath and basin taps, and same to the kitchen to the kitchen sink and dishwasher. I feel that this give a better flow rate if more than one outlet is on at a time. Absolutely no extra work if you're already replacing pipes, but probably not worth the effort to start from scratch.

Possibly quieter.

We changed our water system using a Santon pressurised storage vessel. It recommended 22mm incoming mains at least up to the pressure regulator to stop noise. As the existing mains was not accessible without taking the house apart it stayed at 15mm. The noise is intrusive especially at night when somebody uses a loo. If possible to reduce noise then use

22mm
