Sawdust

It accumulated and I got a significant cockroach problem in the shop. I cleaned up the saw dust and the cockroaches left. I have kept the shop clean since then.

A machine question -- on topic!

Mine is shop made and a PITA to move, but works well when stationary, which is what it is designed for, although it works well onsite on a couple of sawhorses. Takes up too much room in the shop though.

A good (and long) article about rust

I saw a man put his hand and lean on a brand new bandsaw top a few years ago, and when I returned to the shop the next day, the owner showed me his hand prints.

magnetic blade angle detector

I have used it with a steel stud (pretty straight) for grading single handedly. played with it in the shop, and it's good, but I don't find it that useful for WW needs in the shop.

Major score on some ww equipment

hi 12MV router, Porter Cable 690 router with base, at least a dozen Amana o gee and roundover, straight cut, and dovetail bits (1/2" shank) 9 Amana 1/4 " shank bits (ogee and straight cut) A little surprised a large millwork shop would have so many routers and bit s.

bits for a Yankee push drill?

I bought this one about 5-6 yrs ago, $125 then, for the upholstery shop. Today about $150.... $125 with coupon? Still going strong. Bought another one for the satellite upholstery shop. Plug directly in the wall. Won't work properly using a typical 14g wire extension cord.

Spannish electrics

I was in Salu once, wandering down a street and happened to look up at a shop awning which had floodlights on the shop wall underneath the awning. It was all done neatly in 25mm steel conduit.

Fireplace "literally breathes life into your room"

me and a mate installed one of those a month back. bloke gets home and declares it's the wrong one, the shop had supplied it to us, blind. we installed it. it looked rubbish, like his LCD TV on the other wall.

Workshop dust extraction

My system must have about 25m of 110mm soil pipe and running for about 9 years now and the only effect of static is that the outside of the pipe attracts the fine dust in the air which looks messy but it matches the relatively untidy shop too!
