ping songbird: a theory to run by you

even if you can't eat the fruits, the wood is useful and of course any scraps you can get from anyone who cans apple sauce would be free organic matter. :) yeah, i like peanut butter and apple sauce on mine at times. don't eat them very often though.

Apple show near Chicago

My club, Midwest Fruit Explorers is putting on a show this weekend at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle Illinois (off of highway 88). Hours are 10am to 4:30pm on Oct 15 and Oct 16. Parking is $7, but our show is free, and you get to see the Arboretum, as well. We will have over 100 varieties of ...

Crab apple polination partner

I have a charles ross apple, and Im abou to plant some ornamental trees nearby and thought it might kill tw birds with one stone. Which leads me on to the second question as recomendations for a coupl of ornamental trees to provide a bit of a screen. Cheers E -- gasdoctor

apple blossoms in October

I have two apple trees which were planted in my yard, one in front other in back, by a friend. They usually bloom about the same time in early spring, but in the two springs they have lived here, each has had only a few blossoms. Now it is October and they are coming out all over the place.

Plum and apple trees

While checking out the backyard for the area for this years garden I noticed my plum tree in full bloom, flowers almost everywhere, I planted the tree last year same with one apple. Now the question. Is it too late to prune off the non-flowering limbs?

Apple Tree: Laxton Superb

A customer of mine has been complaining that her apple tree, named in title above, has seen the fruit rotting on the branches before it usually reaches the harvesting stage and says her yield of good fruit has been waning for about the last three years and getting worse.
