Fire extinguisher recommendation for a home shop

garage/shop, Nope - but I wouldn't want one. My shop smoke detector goes off more frequently than I had anticipated when I do some sanding. Seeing as how my shop time is early am and late evening, that wouldn't work for me.

Wobbly bench woes.

Obviously, you need to have your entire shop floor professionally leveled. +/- .002" (or is that .0002"?) for the entire length and width of your shop. That way, your benches will wobble exactly the same way no matter where you put it. It shouldn't cost you more than $50/square ...

Where to get accurate tape measure?

I got two 10'ers, one for the shop and one for in the house. One of them goes out a 1/64th or so between the 2" and 3" marks, the other is good at least up to 24". Of course I had the one that was off in the shop.

Mission Furniture

I was going to take Darrel's class at Mr Ng's shop in Southern California next month but it conflicted with trip to Maui. Wood and sunny beaches, really pretty much a toss up for me. If bikini clad woman would wonder through the wood shop now and then, maybe I wouldn't get to Hawaii so ...

Discrepancy buying a spare part locally or from the manufacture.

Local spares shops have only one thing of advantage over an net shop, namely they have them for immediate collection, that is worth a premium and some landlords,tenants or customers /might/ be prepared to pay the extra to get the appliance back in order sooner.

Electric heating for shop - storage heaters or what ?

Storage heaters will work BUT you have to train the shop staff to - - open the output knob slowly throughout the morning until about 2pm when it should be fully open. - close the output knob at closing time so the heater recharges overnight Otherwise you will be sitting with a storage heater ...

Cheaper to disconnect gas, or a mistake re cost of disconnect?

House that used to be ground floor shop and upstairs flat. Little old lady rented both from landlord years'n'years ago from landlord who lived elsewhere. Gas meter for flat in cellar of shop. Bills sent to Landlord's address.

Insect detector?

Buddy of mine has a four channel one at his shop, and one of the cameras points down the shop towards the front window. If someone walks past, it starts that channel recording.

OT-cars Repairing headling

It's been awhile, as best I recall, the pins were regulare straight pins, the kind purched for dress making, only they were 1/2". Very small with flat heads. The pins did not pull through. I created one slight tear by pulling on the fabric too much.
