In the market for a Bandsaw...Delta vs Powermatic

The only reason I mention the jointer is because of all the tools in my shop (including my contractors style 2hp tablesaw -- nice but not a cabinet saw) I'd really like to replace my 6" jointer with an 8".

water butt pumping

Hi, I have connected some water butts to our drain pipes so we now have lots of free water. Buckets and watering cans are fine but being lazy, we would like to use a hose pipe occasionally ;) So I am looking for some sort of pump to generate a decent flow: what are my options?

Basement floor/cement dust clean up...

If the space is cleared already and there is a large enough opening like a door or garage door, then I have found a leaf blower (or attachment from a shop vac) to be quite effective. It can make a mess of its own though depending on the work conditions, it may not be apprpriate either.

2-cycle engine quits when hot

Two years ago I took a old mower to the local repair shop. Some kids were assigned to make it run continuously but they failed 3 times. There was lots of adjusting of the carb screws but nothing helped.

Electrical question

When I repowered my shop that is a similar distance from the house (80' horizontal + 6' vertical on each end), I ran 1/0 copper and installed a 125A 32 space panel in the shop (125A is the largest branch circuit you can run).

Drilling an underground pathway for a pipe using a garden hose

Haved you considered using a heavy duty shop vac attached to a 5 gal. plastic bucket to catch the sand. I've put fence posts in, in this manor in Florida. Sure would keep all the water out of the house. Of course the further south you are the more coral you find.

Noise from neighbors, solutions?

My buddy an electronic repair technician had a shop across the street from a trailer park. A new couple moved in that fought all the time usally after he had closed up shop and went home which was also at the same location.

Subpanel Circuit Question

I think it's OK to wire 220 that way -- I did that for my shop; using 3 wires as you note. I read up on that and had enough evidence to suggest it was OK But not sure if wiring AC is OK that way; expecially w/ 60 amps. My shop 220 circuits were only 20 amps.

Typically when they get moved from shop to shop, it takes a wrecker with a tilit-and-load deck because they weigh so much when filled with tools.

3-way switched outlet?

I am trying to add a shop light in my garage. I would like it to be operated by a switch at the garage door (the front) and a switch at the side door (the back). It is a plug in shop light so I would like the switches to control an outlet. Is this possible and if so can someone tell ...
