New shop

Folks: I'd like your input on a new shop I'm having built. Actually it's a garage but it's prime purpose will be a woodworking shop.

shop configuration

eventually I'll have a place for it outside the shop proper, but for now it's indoors. for the short term I'll be removing a shelving unit to make space for it. which means more shuffling of stuff and another box or 3 going into deep storage for a while.

Shop walls

Hello, I am finishing up my shop walls tommorrow and I plan on using 3/8 inch plywood (already on hand). Do I but them up on each other or should I leave some space between sheets for expansion?

Shop Question

I'm about to endeavor to create a wwshop (Contractors TS, bench tools, and hand tools only) in the third bay of a 3 car garage, but I don't really want it to look like a shop (dusty tools everywhere, cords showing, scraps all over the place).

Shop heat

If it seems to, I'll stick one of those up in each corner of the shop and get on with it. I'm not up for rerouting ducting for a furnace, among other fun chores, so ceiling mount radiant heat might be the answer.

FRAMING SHOP

I have (had) a 30'X50' Galvanized Shop building built with 2"X4" studs and 2"6" rafters with a sloping roof containing four rooms that Hurricane Rita tore off the metal roofs on two rooms and demolished 2 of the rooms roofs and siding. The wall between the 2nd and 3rd room is still standing.

Shop Ideas?

x-no-archive:yes How big is the area you work. Right now I have everything in my garage and it is very cramped. And a pain to sweep up all the sawdust when doen to keep it from being tracked in the house.I would liek to build something but funds are short. I have a 12x16 shed, but it has a gravel ...

Shop safety

I have two small children that love to visit me in my workshop. My worry has always been that one day they may visit the shop when I'm not there and some how turn on a machine and feed their hands in. Right now I keep the door locked and ALWAYS unplug the machines.
