Pruning apple trees

Hi, I have some new two year old apple wipes that are to be made into a belgium fence (espalier). Spaced every 2 feet or so. I was told to prune the wipes to 18 inches and new growth would appear right at the cut with new shoots all around the cut.

Apple tree newbie

We would love to plant an apple tree or 2 but have no idea of how to go about it. Could you suggest a type of tree, which will start fruiting before we are dead(!) We've heard of patio ones maybe they would suit us? Many thanks

Espellier apple tree

I have a section of wall along my back fence I am thinking of using to espellier an apple tree. The wall is about 2 m high and 3-4 m long. The soil is about 12-18 inchs of loam, well draining good stuff.

Apple Tree, lubricants?

I have an apple tree in my back garden that I have only ever tended for, I've never picked the apples but I'm considering it this year. Each time I have attempted the apples have been covered in a white substance. I assumed it was just plant s**en.
