Lifespan of a miter saw?

I had a Dewalt 12 sliding and used it heavily for 7 or 8 years including some time in a pro shop. I sold it and bought the Hitachi sliding 10 inch and it is being used exclusively in a pro shop for the last 7 years. No problems. Ryobi no longer makes good tolls.max

charging for travel time?

as i prefer to work in the shop over working onsite, i have little experence in this. usually, i make it and they pick it up. this time i have to install posts and arches and trim at the house. time onsite is billed, time in the shop is billed, but what of travel time?

OT-ish: cleaning binoculars lenses

Go to your local opticians or camera shop and get a bottle of lens cleaner and a decent cloth, then polish. Gently. If the reflections are shiny the dirt is inside. Find a _good_ camera shop... Andy.

Why do you assume that people who shop there are limiting their choice? Does shopping in a Clark's shop limit your choice of shoes? Of course it doesn't, there are other shoe shops to choose from. MBQ

Electrical switch -- no longer controls outlets -- Help??

You can spend thousands of dollars on tools, and fill a whole shop with them. More importantly, however, is acquiring a couple dozen types and sizes of "pliers": needle-nose, slip-ring, locking, nippers, dikes, tweezers, forceps, and the like. Same with screwdrivers.

Tip the trolley over in the shop and empty the contents on the floor. Then you leave the shop with the empty trolley and park it up to reclaim your pound coin.

What's a good way to get rid of rain surface rust on tools left outside

I screwed up when I left the lid off a container of HCl setting on my shop bench. Two days later when I went back in the shop the fumes had caused every iron tool hanging on the pegboard to have a film of rust similar to your toolbox. HCl never comes inside any more.
