Shop Vac Dust Collector?

I have several woodworking tools and a 16 gal shop vac. I would like to use the shop vac with hoses to suck away sawdust but I have been led to believe that you need one of those specialty items. Is this correct or can the shop vac work fine? I am even willing to buy a special ...

Great Job Opportunity - crap wood selector

The best one I saw was my wife (English, from North London) trying to buy a loaf of bread in the bread shop. I stood outside and watched. a) She didn't know the local word for the particular kind of bread she wanted.

Gas Fired Clothes Dryer Question

I'm sure that the movement of air from my 2.5HP shop vac is greater than the movement of air when the dryer is running. Hold one hand outside the dryer vent and hold the other on the "blower" side of a decent shop vac. Advantage: shop vac.

These drill bits are worth the money from Aldi.

Those remarks are being made by those who *do* shop at Lidl. I don't shop at Lidl, and am extremely unlikely to be heard making anti-German remarks. I've been into both a Lidl and an Aldi, and found nothing there that I'd want to buy.

Curtain pole on thin plasterboard over lintel

You need a very sharp metal drill - eg DeWalt: http://www.toolstation.com/shop/x/x/d80/sd1250/p70067 Those bad boys will go through anything metallic. Of course you can buy the single bits. The steel is tough but only about 2mm thick.

Calculator for spacing slats/spindles - input welcome

However, said CAD program is not available in the shop, the formula works quickly with my shopbench calculator which does woodworking fractions, and the spreadsheet works on a PDA, which is easily available in the shop.

For small handheld machines like the routers, you might want to consider using a shop vac. The dust collectors won't have much grunt when you hook them up to a 2.5" hose. I'm thinking about this thing called the GUV which looks like a cross between a shop vac and a house central vac ...

Flourescent problems?

I did find the cold weather rated T8 fixtures at HD and they even had some 'shop grade' on sale for $16.77 each.. (twin 48" T8 rated to 0 temp.) These shop lights also had a feature that I haven't seen before..
