New Shop Pics....

Having a staircase in the garage does take away from my space, but it does get me downstairs to the basement shop easily. The panel is in as are the new fluorescents (4x4 footers), and 4x20 amp 110's. I hope to get all the 220v for the big tools in in the next few days.

Shop Heat Redux

My 'shop' is also my garage wherein cars needs to live at night. The garage is unheated which is kind of a problem here in metro Chicago ... it essentially means no wood butchery in the cold months. Moreover, there is not much available in electricity.

shop lighting questions

I've read several posts regarding use of fluorescent fixtures for shop lighting, have a few additional questions - my basement shop is 7'6" high, open joists (and will stay open): 1. I like the idea of installing outlets between joists and plugging in pre-wired floro fixtures.

Car body shop.

I'm after a decent body shop in the SE - more specifically the SW London area, but I'll happily travel for better value. Place I did use has closed down due to the owner retiring. It's for cash, not insurance, jobs. Courtesy car and posh reception not required.

hotpoint washing machine seals

There was also some black stuff in with the washing, it looked a bit like some tough card. The seal had gone and water got in to the bearing so under the guarantee hotpoint gave us a new drum assembly. Turns out to be a common fault according to the shop.

Cash & Carry

"Personal" may need a ID card from the "profession" or similar. "Trade" means you ca shop in the mornings before the sheple get in the way and you can buy the bulk paracetamol (24 pks of 16 tabs @ 15p/pk). "Retail" customers are limited to 2 pks in any shop IIRC.

Home Gardening Becomes Even More Imperative

. ;-) I also shop by phone somewhat before going out so I can make just one trip to one store. I don't like to shop on line as credit card interest rates are too high so I limit their use to what I can pay off each month.
