carpet laying - direction to go...

My local carpet shop throws in the fitting free,provided its not cheap carpet. You will struggle to cut/workout how best to cut the bay window area doing it the way you have said. I'd work from the bay window first.

Advice for Pirates

In my case, I have to go further to Tesco than any other supermarket, and 50% further than a small spar shop, a quality butcher and a real greengrocer, and even then I only have to go 50 yards down the garden for free vegetables and seasonal fruit..

Anyone use CAD software to design projects?

You should go to http://www.ecabinetsystems.com/ and link to the software page It is a free software program I have been using it in my shop for about a year you do have to have some knowledge of joinery though. I think this would suit your needs very well

Lighting control

One that has the *removable* pins for turning things on/off. put in _only_ some 'off' pins.

snowblower auger problem

It sounds like the augers don't have their shear pins installed on their axles and are only free-wheeling due to friction. With the machine OFF check the axles of both augers and you should see where shear pins should be installed.

Water Heat Circulator

What makes you think it won't heat water with half the usual energy, with free AC as a side benefit? The best I've seen so far this year is a $69 5340 Btu/h 10.2 SEER Daewoo at a local Shop-Rite supermarket. I wonder what Costco's selling. Nick

Rolling Pin Ball Bearings.....

Go to any skateshop (or sporting goods store that sells/repairs them) the will ususally give them away (the used ones that is) for free. The work fine - I used them on a few shop tools I made for my latheand they work great.
