Hot water heating

Dec 02, 2003 1 Replies

Is there a newsgroup for hot water heating? Or is this the place?

If water is spitting out of the pressure relief valve (over a pint a day) and the system is losing pressure, what needs replacing? The pressure relief valve? The expansion tank? The pressure reducer valve? Something else?

Thanks.

The thing to do is monitor the guages. Figure out if the relief valve is popping due to excess pressure. If it's not, then change it. While you're at it, drain the expansion tank. If the pressure is low and the relief valve is running, then maybe both need changing.
