Do you still use a Single Pole Dimmer Switch if you are using it for a switch that controls an over head light and an additional outlet from an electrical outlet. Is two-pole only required if there is an additional switch hooked into the outlets?
Use Single Pole Dimmer Switch if Additional Outlet?

You are not supposed to install a dimmer on a receptacle as someone could plug in something other than a light fixture. The dimmer will either destroy itself or whatever is plugged into the dimmed outlet.
You may want to dim your radio, especially these days, but most would advise against it.
Don't switch the outlet. Use a dimmer socket on the lamp or an in-line dimmer switch in the lamp cord.
