Tub drain PVC to copper union?

Jun 27, 2004 2 Replies

Hi folks-

I'm removing a 35 year old tub that is connected to a 1.5" copper drain line. The new tub will be wider than the old, so the drain plumbing doesn't quite match up. The new drain fittings will likely be done with PVC.

What's the best way to hook in the new PVC drain fittings to the copper drain line, assuming that the end point of the drain is just plain 1.5" copper (no special fitting or union at the end)?

Thanks

Marc

Fernco rubber coupling, assuming code is OK with that for your locale.
