Shower leaking

Hi All, I have a shower unit on the 2nd floor that seems to be leaking and staining the ceiling on the main floor. The shower is one of those 3 sided moulded enclosure types so I can't really get in there and see what's wrong without opening up the wall on the other side.

Is that my best approach or are there other ways to solve the problem?

Regards, dave

Could be the short pipe that unscrews from the pipe in the wall. Get yourself a pair of large pliars and rag so pipe isn't damaged and unscrew the pipe. I'm talking about the pipe that the shower head is connected to. It screws out.

can't really

problem?

Dave,

This may or may not apply, but it would be a cheap first fix.

We had a similar problem, except with a shower/tub that would only leak if the tub was filled. I unscrewed the drain (you will need a special tool to do this that cost me about 6 bucks) and found that the builder had done a poor job of puttying up the drain. I removed the old putty, applied new stuff and screwed the drain back in place.

No leaks since. You may want to try this, since it would cost you only a few bucks to see if that is the problem.

Good luck.
