In many areas the use of air conditioners is over for the season. If you have electric air conditioning and if it is not a heat pump, then it may be a good idea to turn off the power to the unit. Many systems have a heater circuit that is on most of the time. It does not consume a lot of power, but it does eat some. Turning off the power at the source to the unit will save this power until you need it next summer.
Note: don't forget to turn it back on in the spring and don't try to run the A/C for a day or two after you turn it on.
I also like the idea of killing any circuit that will not need power for an extended period. A dead circuit is just a little bit less likely to cause a problem.
