You are thinking of E-15, something an over officious government is trying to mandate for everyone. I guess ADM paid them more than all of the engine manufacturers who say their engines are not certified to run on 15% alcohol.

No it is true. ADM greased the palms of both parties to get it passed. Newer engines can probably take it but there may be problems with older ones. The more ethanol in the gas, the higher the polarity and it can corrode gaskets and sealants. Happened to me with my snow thrower a few years ago when I did not run the engine dry and left the tank full of E-10 that even had stabilizer in it. Carburetor had to be fixed. When I went back to read the manual it said not to use gas with ethanol in it.
