The technician was out and ranseveral tests. The problem proved to be a faulty solenoid control valve that wasn't shutting off when it should. A new valve has been ordered and will be installedd within a few days.

Oh, yes I know. The first tech didn't even check for that problem. All he did was install a new ice maker, which may or not have been needed, but it was covered under warranty. I appreciated the comments from those here on the group and I suspected that they were right, but I wasn't physically able to even examine it, let alone change it out. I'm not able to get down on the floor.

It wasn't that I disagreed with anyne here. It's just that I cannot physically get down flat on the floor to access the valve. That's why the tech was engaged.
That first tech was from our extended warrantee company. He came out a second time, looked at it and said that was nothing wrong with it. :-) When I called the manager he got aa royal reaming out. They agreed to buy out our warrantee for a sum nearly the cost of a new refrigrator. Fine, and they sent a check.
The new tech is a Maytag employee. We'll have to pay for it, but we can well afford the cost since it's a fraction of the check the first place sent out.
Oh, I will. I'll be in the kitchen with him. I do have one of those flat vacuum attachments that lets me reach all the way bacak to the wall underneath the refrigerator, freezer, and stove, but I'll still have him check the underneath when the back is off behind the compresor.
I know how that goes. In 50 years of home ownership I never paid anyone to do work on my house. Now I find it easier to write a check than to do some of the labor.
I recently put a new floor and repainted a bedroom. I did half the paint and a quarter of the floor. Grandson works cheap though. It is a two day project that took about a week.
