PExX pipe connected to CPVC

Dec 02, 2003 1 Replies

For some time now I have wanted to get involved with PEX for some of my small remodel jobs. I have hesitated due to the cost of the crimpers for different size pipe. I was working the other day and the electrician on the job said he used PEX in his own house and solvent welded it to CPVC fittings with multipurpose (PVC, CPVS, ABS)cement. I tried the fit and they seem to fit together. Is this a legitimate way to join PEX and will it hold up over time?

Nope. They are two completely different materials and after time, they will fall apart.
