How do kids benefit from a Bacony? Will they Cure ham shanks? How is jumping to safety from a balcony better than jumping from a window? Sakowitz wants a improvement that Increases PROPERTY VALUE. Sakowitz bought a hovel built under cover without oversight in 1988.

They can stand on the balcony until the ladder truck comes and rescues them. It could give them enough time so they do not have to jump.

+1 If the balcony is wider than the window, and I think 13-by-3½-foot is wider than almost any bedroom window, they would be safe for a long time, even when flames ae coming out the window.
I'm amazed that a 1988 house was not up to code. .

If Sakowitz bought a roll up escape ladder the kids would be outside on the sidewalk before the 911 operator dispatched Karl Malden and Michael Douglas. A nice balcony can pull some pretty ocean views and patio dining while the downstairs area is used for laundry drying.
