Paint interior brick BEFORE drywall?

Up north we used to paint the basement (brick) walls with a moisture barrier. Is there any reason to do this in central Florida? Not in the basement but interior walls that are on the outside of the house. Does that make sense? Paint the walls with a moisture barrier before the drywall is put up.
