OT: UK government emergency warnings

What the f*ck could possibly be a life threatening emergency in the UK? We don't get tornadoes.

Wasn't very effective their test anyway. I was asleep in the next room when it alledgedly sounded a siren "even if your phone is on silent" which it was. I never heard a thing.

I assumed it was practise for when Putin finally loses it.

It could be a useful system if localised, local traffic, flood, fires etc.

We in the US all know that aggravating "test of the emergency broadcast system". WTF happened to it on 911?

I don't care if the Gorbals go underwater. That's a shanty town in Glasgow.

I see a few garden fences down, nothing like Katrina. Maybe a cat died.

Putin is the sane one. We're the morons for interfering.

I doubt there would be a fire here more than a few houses. And I don't think they system is any more localised than a whole cell area.

No idea. I never heard my alarm. You need 4G or above. Not sure if you get warnings after the event.

Why do people say "go off" when they mean "go on"?

Those cheese eating surrender monkeys would never defend themselves, let alone start a war.

We still get more tornados per unit area than any other country in the world. We are simply lucky that few of them are major ones.

As I said in the previous thread on this, underwhelming is the thought I had, sounds a bit puny, will only work on a phone that can play audio, ie not those old or very cheap ones that have a musical fixed bleeper, and sounded to me like a vehicle reversing noise. It needs a siren. These alerts have been around in other countries, and the sounds are more complex, even changing due to the nature of the emergency. They can be localised as well, ie Flood warning, or danger Elons latest rocket has over the UK....

Oh, they can start wars; it's the finishing that's the problem. They should have gotten the clue in 1871 that the glory days were over. They tried to get their revenge at Versailles and that worked out really well.

That will work like one of the videos from Ukraine. The sirens went off after the rockets hit.
