OT - South Lake Union Trolley

Popularly named Seattle Lake Union Trolley given unfortunate nickname.

Officially, it?s the South Lake Union Streetcar. But in the neighborhood where the new line runs, it?s called the South Lake Union Trolley ? or, the SLUT.

Great lines from the story:

100 T-shirts bearing the words ?Ride the SLUT? sold out in days

?We?re welcoming the SLUT into the neighborhood,?

Portland, Oregon, as usual, comes in second t Seattle.

Portland built an aerial tram to go from the South Waterfront District (known locally as "So What") up a very large hill (Markham Hill) to the Oregon Health Sciences University.

Estimated cost was $ 15 million; costs to date exceed 57 million, all borrowed, and that figure does not include interet on the bonds.

The hill has on it what was once the Medical School operated by the University of Oregon, and has locally been know as "Pill Hill" since about

1910.

The tram si known here as:

Pill Hill Aerial Rapid Transit.

PHART.

Here in Flint, Michigan I'm waiting for the Flint Area Rapid Transit. Bet their service stinks.

We left the Flint, Michigan area (Flushing) two and a half years ago. We still have family in the area, so we go back several times a year. We are saddened by the way the area has declined. My father-in-law retired from AC after 42 years of service as a union plant layout (bastard) and my father retired from Buick after 27 years as a plant engineer ( salaried plant layout). They are both gone now. You know that a REAL public transport system would never work in the Auto Capital of the World.
