I really hate to agree with micky but there are a few other things that don't pass the sniff test. Most people would not select an AK-47 style rifle for a 350-400 yards shot, scope or no scope. If he'd been in the Ukraine he could have at least scored a SVD.

I didn't say anything like that. I don't have any doubt that he was there to shoot trump. I only expressed surprise that he would allow the gun barrel to be seen. Maybe it wasnt' really sticking "out", maybe there was a hole in the tree cover that he missed. Maybe he fell asleep and moved the gunn.

Before the various bans a lot wound up in the US. I remember going to a show in Phoenix in the late '90s before California passed one of their bans. The SKSs were going for $100. The dealers had skids of them and were selling them as fast as they could do the paperwork.

Back then the SKS could be bought for about $ 70 to $ 100 depending on how much grease wa on the gun. I saw wooden boxes of them that had so much grease you could not tell it had a gun in it and some with just some grease on them and some in cardboard boxes with no grease on them and a few other items. Then there were the Russian ones and the China ones. The China ones were of lesser quality. You could get about 1000 rounds of amunition for about $ 100 at the time. There were some of the AK47 look alikes that were simiauto only. I do not recall wht they ere called at the time.

I don't remember if the thumb hole stock was strictly Norinco but that added a few bucks along with a chrome lined barrel. I should have bought one but I really didn't have a use for it at the time. I had a mobile life style and long guns were a hassle.
