The braking should work even without the CC on. I've never had my car brake but I have gotten warnings a couple of times, like when a car in front slows quickly and the gap narrows. I hit the brakes myself.
I'm active on a car forum and a couple of people were in circumstances and it did work for them. I hope to never find out.
Most people would try it. Since it's going to keep you in the right place, you get out of your seat and lean into the back to get something, then find out 15% of the time it doesn't.
Why did it warn you? Is this some kind of method to make you a better driver? It would make more sense for it just to brake.
Eventually all new cars will have this system. We await you getting one. Try driving repeatedly into a brick wall and report back to us on the failure rate.
There must be a way to disable it. What if you need to ram somebody off the road?

No it's not. It just means the person stating the reason is misguided, a fool or a liar.
If he says it is faster, that maybe undeniably true
If he were to state it's faster BECAUSE it has a bigger engine then he is a fool, misguided or a liar.
If he were to say it's faster BECAUSE it has a bigger engine and half the weight he is still lying,misguided or foolish .
Could be the gearing and/or tyre size and/or...
Stating a fact is OK, you (TINY) need to be very careful about ascribing reasons for that fact

The Euro NCAP test is a crock of s*it. It's all about what happens IF you crash. Airbags, crumple zones etc. Not once do they mention stopping distance. Then manufacturers like Renault (French, probably bribe the EU set up regs system), sell their cars based on how safe they are. Sure, IF you crash, they're safer. But if another make stops faster, they don't even crash do they?
But that is NOT what NCAP safety rating measures It is simply a measure of how well the car will do in a crash

If you want these measures you have to look elsewhere, if you want to know how 'well' it does in a crash them NCAP
What the f*ck is the point in knowing how well it does in a crash? Crashing is not something people want to do. They want to avoid the crash. Would you buy:
1) A car with a much shorter stopping distance, so you don't hit the obstacle in front. 2) A car which slams you into the obstacle, but protects you from it. Guess what, you still have the busted car and raised insurance premiums.1 and 2. Not all collisions are avoidable. I've seen serious pileups when a series of cars encounter a patch of black ice on the road.

But in real life you will have cars which are better in a crash and cars which are better at avoiding a crash. If you had to pick one, which would it be?
