I built a new gate using pressure-treated 2x4s and 6x6 posts.
1) I've drilled several holes for hardware and then decided to move the hardware. Do I need to fill the old unused holes? If so, what's the best product?
2) Once the wood has sufficiently dried, I'd like to treat it with something to preserve it. I tried Thompsons Waterseal on a similar project and it didn't hold up too well. Any suggestions for a better product? (There's a 60 degree annual swing in temperature, it gets hot in the summer, and there's a lot of exposed sunlight). Thanks in advance for any help!
