Does anyone know if android filesystem can handle a download file size of 3.8 gigs?
I tried looking on the internet, but couldn't find the information.
I have 10 gigs free space, but don't want to find out halfway through download that 3.8 gigs is too big for filesystem.

SD cards can handle only files less than 4GB due to a limitation of the FAT32 file system used on them. It is possible to format a SD card in a modern file format such as ext4 and load files over 4GB, but it's not as quite simple as reformatting the card and go.
Seems you'd only do this on wifi anyway, so what's the problem with just trying? Also, the phone needs a few hundred mb of free space to work with, so if you only have 4gb and intend to keep that 3.8 file there, you're likely going to get warning messages about insufficient space. Finally, I and others here have seen many times where whatever file utilities and the like report on Android as being free are way off from what is actually really there and usable.
