In a large room laminates going in one direction with same color looks boring. Different wood color(s) as borders around a room, changing layout directions or gong around curves, using different manufactures and doing inlays with laminates would really jazz up the space. Look like its doable but could not find any examples. Has anyone done any of this?

With laminates from different manufacturers it may be difficult to match things up.
Changing layouts, different colors can jazz things up but it can also make it look like a circus if not done properly. Accents can be fine, but add to many elements and . . . . .
I've seen wonderful patterns in real wood though.
