Watched thru the sight glass on the fuel tank of the manlift the gasoline boiling merrily the last day or two while working on residing and replacing soffits on the old house...
Got a little nervous so looked it up...starting boiling point is only
95F while ending point is pretty high (250F iirc or so altho don't recall precise number).
Sidebar Q? This is an old Wisconsin VG4D air-cooled (150 cu in, 37 hp). Manual says SAE 30; Clare, you any experience with these old guys? I'm wondering if in the heat I'd be well served to use a 15-40 SF, maybe, that we use in all the tractors.
I'm going to see if I can get some reflective insulation on the side of fuel tank facing the engine/hydraulics to keep it at least a little cooler. Not a lot of access there w/o a fairly significant removal of covers.
OH, the machine is an old ('88 vintage) JLG 40H straight boom manlift for the curious.
