any suggestions on an easy way to get the hose on the shank w/o 'boogering' up the shank? thanks! Mike

Put the hose end in hot water first?

If, by shank, you mean a replacement end piece, try saliva. Then, flare the hose end just a bit to make it more receptive. Come on...certainly you've done something similar in the past. :-)

I have gently heated the hose with a propane torch to slightly soften the plastic. Liquid laundry soap works well sometimes.

Wet the shank with saliva. Insert it into the hose and push it in as far as you can by hand. Then hold the hose firmly in one hand, and tap the shank into it with the flat face of a wood board. Or, a rubber hammer would work.
